Massage Equipment: The Bare Essentials
For most people, a massage is just something that is done with two bare hands and some ointments. However, what people do not know is that professional massage therapists do have their own set of professional massage equipment. The massage equipment that they use helps them to improve the way that they treat their patients.
Massage Stool
In order to do something correctly, a person must be relaxed. For a massage therapist, a massage stool is exactly what helps them to relax while they are applying their different modalities on their patients. Usually, a massage stool is sold with the massage table and other massage equipment that a therapist uses for work. There are even some tables that have a built in massage stool that can be pulled out whenever the table is in use. The purpose for the stool is so that the therapist can rest from time to time while treating a patient. Most of these stools can be adjusted in height so that the therapist can sit down throughout the whole treatment. This helps to concentrate most of therapist’s energy to his or her hands where it is needed most. One of the most important in massage equipment, the stool is perfect when performing reflexology, and other modalities that require the therapist to be seated.
Electric Table Warmers
One piece of massage equipment is helpful mostly for the patient. A table warmer helps to warm up the massage table before a patient lies in it. Usually, a massage table requires a patient to be disrobed and sometimes a massage table can become quite cold which does not do well for a patients comfort. With electric table warmers as an essential piece of massage equipment, it helps to warm up the massage table before any session. This way, everything starts comfortably and ends comfortably as well for both the therapist and the client.
Oils, Creams and Gels
Another massage equipment essential comes in the form of certain oils and gels that a massage therapist uses. The oils are used to make the skin light and a little slippery so that the therapists hands can glide easier across the surface without cause pain by friction. This massage equipment is very important because it also provides the client a little aroma therapy since these can be purchased with different scents as well. The creams and other topical gels can also be special massage equipment in that they may provide some kind of relief. Some gels are like mint while others can be quite spicy but this is good for the body in order to create heat that will help soother certain aches and pains.
Other tools that a professional massage therapist will use include massage chairs and massage tables, which are some of the major pieces of massage equipment. Anything else is more like a massage equipment add-on that will help compliment the job of the therapist. These will include many additions to the table itself such as support bars for a patients arms and perhaps a cushioned headrest. Whatever the therapist does need as massage equipment it will be best used for the comfort of the patient.
